Frequently asked questions

Is Formu a self-serve form tool or a managed service?

Primarily a managed service. We take your existing paper, Word, Excel, or PDF forms and turn them into a live online workflow — you never have to learn the tool. The Free plan is still available if you just want to try things out.

What's the difference between the build fee and the monthly retainer?

The build fee is one-time (we get your forms from zero to live). The monthly retainer is ongoing service (hosting, support, bug fixes, 2 small edits per month). Think "renovation cost" vs "property management fee".

Why don't you push a self-serve SaaS plan?

Formu's positioning is "we build your forms for you," not "here's a tool — figure it out." Most SMB owners want results, not 10-20 hours learning new software. If you do want DIY, the Free plan works.

Can I export PDFs that look like the original paper form?

Yes. Managed builds produce pixel-perfect PDF layouts based on your paper original — logo, multi-page, special layouts, and CJK fonts all included.

Do external respondents need an account?

Usually not. External users submit through a form link; admin users sign in to view records and export data.
